I am an Instructional Technology Coach for the San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) where I work with the teachers in the Juvenile Court and Community Schools (JCCS). In the past three years I have worked for both JCCS and SDCOE in various capacities from teaching educators how to teach in an online/blended environment (Leading Edge Certification) supporting online/blended learning and technology integration for districts throughout San Diego County, to spreading the love of Google both locally and, more recently, on a national scale.
I am also an adjunct professor of educational technology for California State University San Marcos in the school of education. For the past five years, I have been working with the single-subject program and the joint doctoral program (UCSD/CSUSM) to facilitate, not only the integration of technology, but promoting the power of the personal learning network (PLN) for learning and personal/professional growth.
Additionally, I am one of the founding instructors for the San Diego State/San Diego County Office of Education joint MA program. It is a leadership program with a technology focus. I have the pleasure of starting the cohort off with a seminar called Personalized Learning and Leading with Technology. This group of educators and educational professionals has really inspired me to continue to push the envelope of what learning, teaching, and leading should like like.
In December of 2012, I became a Google Certified Teacher, which not only allowed me the opportunity to spend two days at Google headquarters (affectionately known as “The Mothership”), but connected me to some amazing educators who continue to inspire and motivate me to be the absolute best educator that I can be! In June of 2014, I became a Google Education Trainer, which allows me to stay Googley while delivering training to schools and districts! Since February, I have also had the honor of working as a featured speaker for EdTechTeam at the Google Summits throughout the country. Imagine getting paid to talk about what you love and share awesome ways for teachers to integrate technology into their curriculum with Google Tools!
Besides technology integration, another passion in my practice is to promote and integrate ideas of social justice and educational equity in schools, classrooms, curriculum, and communities. My work isn’t what I do, it’s who I am!
